G71 is a Women’s Health Unit that provides care to patients undergoing total abdominal/robotic laparoscopic hysterectomies, vaginal hysterectomies, anterior/posterior repairs, vulvectomies, mastectomies with tissue expanders, mastectomies with DIEP flap reconstruction, TRAM flap reconstruction and latissimus dorsi flaps. This unit also cares for a small population of plastic surgery female flap reconstruction and postpartum patients with high-risk babies. A caregiver in this position works nights, 7:00pm—7:30am. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter. Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN. Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
