The J52 unit is a 24-bed unit specializing in the care of patients with a broad range of medical and surgical conditions. This includes individuals preparing for pre-cardiac catheterization and PTCAs, as well as those undergoing electrophysiological studies for arrhythmias, AICD or pacemaker placement, and those experiencing unstable angina. The unit also cares for post–thoracic surgery patients recovering from procedures such as lobectomies, pneumonectomies, thoracoscopic bilateral lung volume reduction for emphysema, and esophagogastrectomies. As a PCNA on this team, you will coordinate with fellow caregivers to create a welcoming, healing and warm environment for patients. This position offers the ability to pursue educational advancement, higher positions and skills development courses offered by Cleveland Clinic. In this role, you have an excellent opportunity to start your nursing career and work in a supportive and caring healthcare setting. A caregiver in this role works days from 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross or must obtain during your new hire period
Nursing students: required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association or American Red Cross (AHA) prior to hire
Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered
Proficient in applied mathematics & reading comprehension at an eighth-grade level

Responsibilities

Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN.
Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter.
Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
