Weston Hospital’s Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) provides specialized care for patients with gastrointestinal disorders as well as those recovering from heart, liver, and kidney transplants, offering an advanced level of monitoring and treatment that exceeds routine care while remaining distinct from the intensity of critical care. When you join this team as a PCNA, you will help create a welcoming, healing and warm environment for patients. This position offers the ability to pursue educational advancement, higher positions and skills development courses offered by Cleveland Clinic. In this role, you have an excellent opportunity to start your nursing career and work in a supportive and caring healthcare setting. A caregiver in this role works nights from 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or obtain during your new hire period
  • Nursing students: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) prior to hire

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate of an approved program for nursing assistants or previous hospital training
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
  • Six months of experience in an acute care hospital setting

Responsibilities

  • Assist nursing caregivers, promote patient comfort and carry out nursing orders
  • Transport patients by wheelchair, bed or stretcher to and from the department/unit.
  • Conduct EKG and phlebotomy duties.
  • Attend to patient and family needs and problems.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, such as dressing, bathing and hygiene.
  • Report pertinent information regarding patient condition to appropriate nursing staff.
  • Assist patients with tray set up and feeding.
  • Interact with the Food and Nutrition Services to maintain an adequate supply of nourishment for the patients.
  • Restock supplies daily and order supplies from Central Supply.
  • Document care provided in the medical record.
  • Collect and transport specimens.
  • Provide RNs/LPNs with accurate and timely intake/output data, vital signs, blood glucose results and other data, note changes from prior measurement and communicate accordingly.
  • Respond to call lights within five minutes or communicate inability to do so.
  • Report patient needs to an RN/LPN immediately.
