Weston Hospital’s Telemetry Unit cares for cardiac patients and monitors their heart rhythm. Caregivers in this unit may clean and shave a patient’s skin to place electrodes, replace electrodes daily, change batteries in a telemetry device, help someone when their monitor’s alarm sounds and explain telemetry to patients. When you join this team as a PCNA, you will help create a welcoming, healing and warm environment for patients. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA). If you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it during your new hire period.
  • Nursing students: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) prior to hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate of an approved program for nursing assistants or previous hospital training.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
  • Six months of experience in an acute care hospital setting.
  • Customer service, rehab or prior retail experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist nursing caregivers, promote patient comfort and carry out nursing orders.
  • Transport patients by wheelchair, bed or stretcher to and from the department/unit.
  • Conduct EKG and phlebotomy duties.
  • Attend to patient and family needs and problems.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, such as dressing, bathing and hygiene.
  • Report pertinent information regarding patient condition to appropriate nursing staff.
  • Assist patients with tray set up and feeding.
  • Interact with the Food and Nutrition Services to maintain an adequate supply of nourishment for the patients.
  • Restock supplies daily and order supplies from Central Supply.
  • Document care provided in the medical record.
  • Collect and transport specimens.
  • Provide RNs/LPNs with accurate and timely intake/output data, vital signs, blood glucose results and other data, note changes from prior measurement and communicate accordingly.
  • Respond to call lights within five minutes or communicate inability to do so.
  • Report patient needs to an RN/LPN immediately.
