About The Position

Advance your career as a Patient Care Director within the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at New York-Presbyterian/Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital. At NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Units serve the needs of critically ill infants, children, and adolescents who require specialized heart care. These specialized units are staffed by a highly skilled teams of intensivists from multiple subspecialties, including anesthesiology, pediatric cardiology, pediatric heart surgery, neonatology (newborn care), cardiac critical care, and pulmonology (lung care). The Patient Care Director assumes front line responsibility and accountability for managing the delivery of patient care. Responsible for the total management of a designated unit, which includes setting goals and objectives in accordance with the NYPH strategic initiatives, and for planning, organizing, directing, and monitoring unit activities on a twenty-four (24) hour basis. Fiscally responsible for the unit, facilitating efficient and cost effective daily operations. Coordinates and evaluates the effectiveness of staff, unit performance, and system operations. Implements unit’s strategic plan relevant to NYPH initiatives, while continuing to develop professional and support staff in establishing an environment where staff and patients are able to reach their full potential. Please note that all roles require on-site presence (variable by role). Therefore, all employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP. NYP will not reimburse for travel expenses.

Requirements

  • At least three years of Pediatric ICU nursing experience
  • Demonstrated leadership competencies
  • Master's degree in Nursing (MSN)
  • Current NYS RN licensure (or willingness to obtain within 3 months)

Nice To Haves

  • Five years of leadership experience in a Pediatric ICU within a large academic medical center
  • Demonstrated leadership in leading unit development
  • Experience with union environments
