About The Position

BluePearl Kirkland is a large-scale veterinary referral center dedicated to providing the highest level of care. We are looking for an Emergency Department Patient Care Coordinator who can bridge the gap between our medical team and our clients, ensuring every pet owner feels supported during their most critical moments. As a Patient Care Coordinator, you are the primary advocate for our clients. You will manage the flow of information, finances, and care plans, acting as a steady hand during emotional and high-pressure situations.

Requirements

  • Experience: 2+ years in a veterinary setting preferred (reception, kennel, or assisting). Experience in finance, insurance, or medical reception is highly preferred.
  • Technical Savvy: Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and quick to learn new veterinary software. Examples of software used: VitusVet, Instinct, Vetsource, Trupanion Portal, Microsoft Outlook, Cornerstone, etc.
  • Emotional Intelligence: Comfortable working around sick, injured, or deceased pets, and able to support grieving families with discretion.
  • Strong Multi-tasker: A master of multitasking with strong time-management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Client Advocacy: Navigate complex financial discussions and insurance claims with transparency and empathy.
  • Finances: You will check hospitalized patient’s charges from the prior shift, create estimates for incoming patients, submit insurance pre-approvals / claims, and provide financial updates to clients who have pets in the hospital.
  • Communication/Collaboration: You will help bridge the gap between specialists, support staff, and clients- triaging calls and providing updates to clients as needed. If necessary, you will assist reception/the client with completing intake of paperwork for a prompt check-in process.
  • Medical Support: You will be asked to complete our med clerk training process to obtain a WA state med clerk license to assist with filling prescription medications as needed. Interpreting medical documents into medical records for charge capture and complete record keeping In critical situations, you may occasionally be asked to assist during CPR
  • Patient Interaction: You may occasionally assist in the gentle handling of dogs and cats when the medical team needs an extra hand.
