About The Position

Our G.I. specialty practice is seeking a full-time patient care coordinator to assist patients at the check-out desk at our Monterey location. This position is primarily clerical in nature. There may be an occasional need to assist with rooming patients.

Requirements

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) Required
  • Present a professional appearance
  • Ability to, verbally, communicate clearly, effectively, and professionally
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in written form
  • Work well with patients, physicians, management, and staff
  • Must have strong attention to detail
  • Have excellent data entry skills
  • Have excellent penmanship
  • High school or equivalent (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients who are ready to check-out.
  • Review physician orders, in ATHENA, and schedule and/or arrange for:
  • Follow-up office visits
  • Procedures in the Endoscopy Center & local hospitals
  • Diagnostic Tests to include CT scans, Ultrasounds, MRI’s, MRCP’s, Small bowel studies, Esophograms, etc.
  • Provide written and verbal dietary and procedure prep instructions.
  • When completed, close orders and educational material within ATHENA
  • Provide written appointment and/or lab orders to patients and facilities.
  • Initiate authorization process for patients with insurances that require prior authorization for procedures and other outpatient services (when the authorization position is sick or on vacation)
  • Collects co-payment and/or other payments.
  • Answers phones as back up to operators
  • Performs Open Access Interviews
  • Responsible for the schedule maintenance of one or more physicians
  • Responsible for requests/tasks sent to personal in-box.
  • Provides back up assistance to Front Desk.
  • Works various ATHENA MD and GI Staff buckets
