As a Patient Care Coordinator, we are often the first point of contact for our patients and their families. As such we value representing an important first impression. We are diligent in obtaining complete and accurate insurance and demographic information in a timely manner, this enables us to provide high quality, compassionate health care service to all who need them, regardless of their ability to pay. Positions may be available in the following areas: Emergency Room, Operating Room, Outpatient, Infusion, Maternal Child, and Transplant Services. Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00AM – 5:30PM Location: Mercy Gilbert Medical Center (MGMC), located at 3555 S Val Vista Dr, Gilbert, AZ 85297

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 2+ years of experience in a Hospital, Physician office or any medical patient facing setting
  • 1+ years of experience in a customer service position
  • Basic level of proficiency with computer and Windows PC applications, which includes the ability to learn new and complex computer system applications
  • Basic level of proficiency in typing skills
  • Ability to be on feet for 95%25 of the shift
  • Ability to push a WOW (workstation on wheels)

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years of registration experience in a hospital or medical setting
  • Understanding of medical terminology
  • Working knowledge of insurance policies and procedures and patient care settings

Responsibilities

  • Communicates directly with patients and / or families either in person or on the phone to complete the registration process by collecting patient demographics, health information, and verifying insurance eligibility / benefits
  • Responds to patient and caregivers' inquiries related to routine and sensitive topics always in a compassionate and respectful manner
  • Utilizes computer systems to enter, access or verify patient data in real - time ensuring accuracy and completeness of information
  • Positions for this function will be responsible for checking in and obtaining all demographics and insurance information for patients
  • Answer billing questions
  • Deliver and create patient estimates based off insurance benefits and collect co-pays/deductibles
