Compass Oncology- the largest privately-owned Cancer Care and Research Facility in the Pacific Northwest- is seeking a Patient Care Coordinator to join our CT/Imaging team. This role requires someone who is adaptable, multi-faceted, and willing to jump in wherever needed, even beyond their usual scope of responsibilities. Employment Type: Full-Time, 40 Hours M-F Location: East Cancer Center (Clackamas, Oregon) Salary Range: $19.17-$27.71 Per Hour Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise as well as internal employee equity considerations. Job Scope: Under general supervision, serves as a Care Coordinator in scheduling a variety of patient appointments; office visits, lab appointments, chemotherapy appointments and tests as indicated by the Provider. May include outside scheduling and the coordination of outside referrals. Serves as a resource and liaison between patient and other medical staff. Answers incoming calls, triages calls appropriately to the correct department/healthcare provider. Accuracy, efficiency, and excellent time management is crucial as a Patient Care Coordinator. Familiar with standard medical concepts and medical office practices. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required. College degree preferred.
  • At least two (2) years office experience, preferably in a medical setting.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology highly desired.
  • Must possess the ability to apply critical thinking in reading, interpreting, and executing provider orders.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to assess when it is appropriate to adjust priorities based on patient or clinic needs.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to articulate information and questions with others in order to perform responsibilities effectively.
  • Must be able to maintain a calm, professional and compassionate demeanor in a high-volume specialty practice.
  • Must be comfortable interacting appropriately with patients, family members and care givers during times of extreme medical and emotional stress.
  • Proficiency with computer systems; Microsoft Office Outlook & Word, required.

Responsibilities

  • Supports CT scheduling and coordination for all clinical sites.
  • Obtains authorization from insurance carrier for all required/special services.
  • Works with CT Technologists, referring physicians, and multiple sites to ensure that information is received on a timely basis.
  • Gathers and verifies all specialty billings. Maintains expense logs up to date for each case. Monitors accounts closely for correct billing and proper account setup for start and stop dates for case rate, including account follow up on all unpaid and incorrect paid claims.
  • Monitors and updates changes made by insurance carriers to ensure correct billing and timely payments.
  • Works collaboratively with finance, administration, and program staff to refine billing tracking and collections systems.
  • Maintains patient data files for easy retrieval and review. Prepares weekly patient tracking forms and submits electronically; distributes appropriately.
  • Provides initial triage of incoming phone calls to the CT program.
  • Accurate ordering of department materials and supplies.
