About The Position

The Patient Care Coordinator at Optum is responsible for providing excellent customer service and supporting the operations of the practice. This role involves working collaboratively with the care team to ensure efficient processes and protocols are followed, while also maintaining a focus on patient care and satisfaction. The coordinator will assist with scheduling, patient registration, and communication, contributing to the overall mission of delivering high-quality healthcare services.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (or higher).
  • 1+ years of experience in a medical front office position, including scheduling appointments and insurance verification.
  • Intermediate computer proficiency, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with electronic health records (EPIC).
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Familiarity with insurance carriers and managed care plans.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service to patients and their families.
  • Support practice operations team, including front desk personnel, with staff coverage plans and scheduling.
  • Manage office supply ordering, organization, and distribution for the practice location.
  • Handle mail and delivery communication and support for the practice location.
  • Assist with staff scheduling and support the manager as needed.
  • Maintain professionalism in appearance and actions with patients and staff.
  • Ensure confidentiality of patient information is maintained.
  • Provide accurate information for appointment scheduling and maintain communication regarding schedule changes.
  • Greet patients and assist with registration processes.
  • Enter and scan patient demographic and insurance information into the electronic health record system (Epic).
  • Verify insurance eligibility and inform patients of their benefits.
  • Collect co-payments and patient balances.
  • Answer incoming phone calls courteously and direct calls as necessary.
