About The Position

The Patient Care Associate/Unit Secretary position at Saint Luke's Hospital involves providing basic nursing care under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN) for a diverse patient population across various units, including surgical services, maternal child units, and emergency care. The role is essential in supporting the clinical staff and ensuring high-quality patient care in a full-time capacity during day shifts.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent is required.
  • Completion of a Nurse Assistant, EMT, Paramedic, or Medical Assisting course is preferred.
  • At least 6 months of experience in the healthcare industry or knowledge of basic medical terms and procedures is preferred.
  • Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification on hire, with AHA Healthcare Provider BLS required within 60 days of hire.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training must be obtained within 60 days of hire or transfer to the position.

Responsibilities

  • Provide basic nursing care for assigned patients under the supervision of an RN.
  • Assist in the care of patients across various units, including surgical, maternal child, pediatric, and emergency units.
  • Complete established competencies for the position within the designated introductory period.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
