Under the general supervision of the Director, Clinical Manager or Charge Nurse, responsible for providing basic and hygienic care and assigned procedures for assigned patients based on age specific needs. Duties may include but are not limited to basic patient care such as taking vital signs, passing trays/ice, bathing, linen changes, turning patients and answering call lights. May also be responsible for performing receptionist, clerical and transcription duties on an assigned nursing unit. Employee is subject to call back and over time as required by the hospital. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Performs direct and indirect patient care responsibilities as assigned by charge nurse. Answers patient call light and relays messages to nursing staff as necessary. Passes food trays, ice or linen to patient rooms. Takes vital signs. Ensures patient safety. Answers telephone and appropriate pages and relays information to appropriate team member. Enters any written orders into the electronic medical record, completes related forms. Performs responsibilities as related to the safe disposal of hazardous pharmaceutical waste. Scans records to an appropriate department as necessary. Maintains charts and adds forms, posts reports as necessary. Dismantles chart and collects all patient related forms necessary for discharge or transfer. Assists Director or Clinical Manager with department clerical duties as required. Orders and/or puts up department supplies as required. Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.
