About The Position

The Patient Care Associate position involves providing direct patient care that is appropriate to the age, culture, and developmental needs of patients. This role requires working closely with patients to assist them with daily living tasks, including dressing, bathing, feeding, toileting, and monitoring vital signs. The Patient Care Associate will also be responsible for catheter care, answering call lights, assisting with ambulation, turning patients, and ensuring their safety. Technical skills required for this position may include obtaining 12 lead EKGs, setting up respiratory equipment, glucometer monitoring, bladder catheterization, and transcribing orders when indicated.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Excellent bedside manner and customer service skills.
• Strong computer skills.
• Successful completion of applicable clearances as outlined in Human Resources policy HR-106 within 90 days of commencing employment.

Nice To Haves

• Successful completion of a nursing assistant program (with proof of completion).
• Nursing student after successful completion of their first quarter/semester of nursing school.
• Previous nursing assistant experience, CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant).
• BCLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under the direction of the Professional Nurse.
• Assist patients with daily living tasks such as dressing, bathing, feeding, and toileting.
• Monitor and record vital signs.
• Perform catheter care and assist with ambulation.
• Ensure patient safety and respond to call lights.
• Obtain 12 lead EKGs and set up respiratory equipment as needed.
• Conduct glucometer monitoring and bladder catheterization when indicated.
