About The Position

The position is for a nursing assistant in the 5 Central Med/Surg department, providing direct patient care appropriate to age, culture, and developmental needs under the direction of the Professional Nurse. The role involves working closely with patients to assist with daily living tasks, ensuring patient safety, and performing technical skills as needed.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Excellent bedside manner and customer service skills.
• Strong computer skills.
• Successful completion of applicable clearances as outlined in Human Resources policy HR-106 within 90 days of commencing employment.

Nice To Haves

• Successful completion of a nursing assistant program (with proof of completion).
• Nursing student after successful completion of their first quarter/semester of nursing school.
• Previous nursing assistant experience, CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant).
• BCLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care appropriate to age, culture, and developmental needs under the direction of the Professional Nurse.
• Assists patients with daily living tasks such as dressing, bathing, feeding, toileting, and ambulation.
• Monitors vital signs and provides catheter care.
• Answers call lights and ensures patient safety.
• Performs technical skills including obtaining 12 lead EKG, setting up respiratory equipment, glucometer monitoring, and bladder catheterization.
