As a Patient Care Associate/Nursing Assistant in the Ambulatory Care Unit, you will find your purpose providing an array of medical services designed to keep adults feeling well and in control of their health! Under the supervision of the RN, the PCA performs various duties assisting staff nurses in the treatment and care of patients in accordance with the established methods and procedures of the hospital and will perform receptionist secretarial support duties while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. Summary Critical monitoring, like vital signs and glucose checks – so we can better assess their health Interact with patients to promote comfort, and express compassion and empathy as they heal Assist with ADLs (activities of daily living) – these are things we often take for granted that patients may be unable to, or need help doing, themselves. ADLs include bathing, brushing teeth, toileting and more. Manage communication in the patient care area regarding patient care activities and patient location, for patients and families, and refers requests to nursing staff or appropriate hospital personnel Initiate, assemble, and maintain charts for all patients on the assigned unit Transcribe physicians' orders; complete all necessary forms, requisitions, and communications necessary to implement orders Record and chart clinical data and other patient information received from nursing staff and medical staff in addition to maintaining the patient chart in appropriate, functional order as prescribed by Hospital and unit policy
