Under direct supervision of a licensed nurse, the Patient Care Assistant performs a variety of routine duties involving: Care of medically ill acute or sub-acute patients. Performs direct patient care. Observes and reports changes in the behavior and physical status of patients. Provides a clean and safe environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) and at least 18 years of age.
  • No previous experience required.
  • NOTE: Orientation requires your availability to complete Clinical Orientation on your first full week (Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm).

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year of job-related experience preferred.
  • [NOTE: Minimum experience for float pool assignments is six (6) months.]

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, shaving, oral and denture care, skin and nail care, bed making, and maintaining a clean environment.)
  • Promoting and maintaining mobility (ambulating, transferring, transporting, turning, positioning, lifting, and performing range of motion exercises).
  • Assisting with nutrition and hydration (feeding and assisting patients with eating and drinking).
  • Assisting with toileting and elimination (assisting with the use of bedpan/urinal/bedside commode, providing catheter care, and care of the incontinent patient).
  • Performs data gathering and recognizes abnormal findings (measures and records vital signs, weight, oral intake, output including urine, emesis, and stool).
