About The Position

The PCA, under the direction of a registered nurse, is responsible for direct patient care considering age specific, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs. They assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe and conducive to patient/family wellbeing including concepts of relationship-based care. Training is provided to prepare our colleagues for success. Patient Care Assistant’s provide continuous observation and monitoring of assigned patients. Notifies nursing staff if the patient requires assistance , control, or other nursing intervention . Knowledgeable and supportive of patients, the confidentiality of HIPAA protected information, and other related hospital policies. The PCA assists patient in completing ADLs including: Bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices and with feeding and menu selection. They are responsible to record patient information and required data in appropriate areas to meet documentation requirements .

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Recent experience desired.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance, lifting greater than 35 pounds using mechanical assistance

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care under the direction of a registered nurse, considering age-specific, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and conducive patient care environment.
  • Provide continuous observation and monitoring of assigned patients.
  • Notify nursing staff if the patient requires assistance, control, or other nursing intervention.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA policies.
  • Assist patients in completing ADLs including bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices, and with feeding and menu selection.
  • Record patient information and required data in appropriate areas to meet documentation requirements.
