This Patient Care Assistant role involves working under the direction of licensed personnel to assist patients with activities of daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, and eating. The position also requires assisting with taking patients' temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration. A $750 sign-on bonus is offered for this position, with details to be discussed during the interview process. The minimum starting rate for this position is typically $20.58 per hour, though the pay range is $18.58 - $26.58/Hourly.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Strong patient/customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Proficient in computer skills to work efficiently with electronic medical records.

  • 0-1 year experience working in patient care/elder care

Responsibilities

  • Performs patient care-related duties and clinical functions as assigned, including, but not limited to, performing and documenting point of care, vital signs, EKGs, bathing and other sanitary needs of patients, transferring and assisting with ambulation of patients, 1:1 patient observation for safety purposes, and phlebotomy.
  • Assists RNs and physicians with other exams and treatments as required.
  • Completes all documentation such as height, weight, intake of fluids and food, output of urine/stool/vomit/other drainage, and blood glucose results in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Assists patients with food tray setup, eating, and feeding, as needed.
  • Ensures that patient rooms are stocked, equipped, and cleaned appropriately, as needs indicate and as patient volumes change.
  • Retrieves equipment from other areas, sets up equipment, cleans equipment between patient use, and reports malfunctioning equipment per organizational policy.
  • Assists with admitting and discharging patients.
  • Facilitates orientation of new PCA team members as directed.
  • Interacts with patients, visitors, and other care team members effectively.
  • Communicates with nursing staff effectively and in a timely manner regarding issues related to patient care and condition.
