Position Summary: Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), performs basic patient care activities and unit support tasks to promote safe, efficient care and patient throughput. Assists with activities of daily living and routine monitoring; maintains a clean, well-stocked environment; supports nursing/physician staff and tech desk operations. Reports to the Director or Manager of Department. FLSA: Non-Exempt. Essential Functions Performs basic patient care as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possible blood glucose measurements, and accurate intake/output recording. Assists patients with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating, toileting, ambulation). Observes and promptly reports abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings to nursing staff. Keeps patient rooms and common areas clean, safe, and appropriately stocked. Manages the tech desk; supports nursing/physician staff and department throughput. Documents care and activities per unit standards. Participates in performance improvement and required education; performs other duties as assigned. Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure: Occupational exposure may be present for all employees in this role. Physical Requirements (typical): Frequent standing, walking, reaching, keyboard entry, repetitive hand/arm and foot/leg movements, kneeling, and lifting/moving patients; occasional sitting and squatting; rare running or climbing. Near/far vision and depth perception frequent/constant; color distinction frequent. Environmental Exposures: Occasional exposure to biohazardous waste, communicable diseases/pathogens, dust, gases/vapors/fumes, hazardous chemicals/medications; latex exposure frequent. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Education: High School diploma preferred. License: SRNA or EMT preferred. Certifications: BCLS required; Handle with Care preferred. Skills: Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment; rapid learning and navigation of multiple software systems; effective English communication (read/write/speak); ability to complete the Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.
