Job Description: We seek a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to provide office clinical support independently and with minimal supervision. The PCA also performs other diverse duties as requested or required under the general and direct supervision of the site manager.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 6-12 months experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Currently enrolled or preparing to attend Medical School or Physician Assistant school.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Outstanding judgment, communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Flexibility, problem-solving, and team attitude.
  • Proficient knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Proficient with computer software, Microsoft Office Suite, database, and typing skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Very comfortable asking probing questions to patients.
  • Must demonstrate a caring, compassionate, and patient-first attitude.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance.
  • Ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute.
  • Must have the ability & willingness to travel to other sites as necessary within a geographic region.

Responsibilities

  • To create a positive and professional first impression of the practice and to show the patients a “we care” attitude.
  • Prepares exam rooms in the clinical area for patient care daily, including stocking of all necessary supplies.
  • Escorts patients to exam rooms, taking the required vital signs and obtaining urine specimens; performs dip and automated review when indicated; and enters it into the patient’s records.
  • Triage patient calls for pharmacy requests, test results, medical questions, and concerns as directed by the providers, documenting outcomes in EHR.
  • Reviewing and reconciling patients’ active medication lists to ensure our records are current.
  • Assists in maintenance of logs and records for OSHA/MOSHA as assigned.
  • Adheres to and follows sterilization and disinfection practices throughout the facility.
  • Adheres to bio-hazardous or “red bag” waste policy and procedure for proper disposal of biomedical waste.
  • Perform clinical chart preparation by reviewing records for upcoming appointments and ensuring any needed testing or records are present.
