A Brief Overview Serves as a member of the provider's Care Team in coordinating the flow of patients through assisting provider with various responsibilities as requested, managing supplies and equipment, fielding and triaging phone call, and other front office tasks.

Requirements

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily including having visual acuity adequate to perform position duties and the ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds.
  • High School or GED Equivalent or 1-3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Medical Assistant degree from a college or technical school
  • Medical terminology experience

Responsibilities

  • Rooms patients, takes vitals, prepares patient for physician, assists physician when needed.
  • Accurately completes documentation for charts.
  • Maintains and views patient records, charts, and other pertinent information to include, but not be limited to, reviews all lab, hospital and other reports, and posts in the electronic medical record as necessary.
  • Prepares result letters for patients as directed by physician.
  • Maintains exam rooms for necessary supplies and materials.
  • Ensures cleanliness.
  • Maintains and cares for all equipment in a responsible manner.
  • Reports any repairs as needed.
  • Assists the provider and nurse scheduling of tests and procedures and with other support duties as time allows, including but not limited to: making copies, opening mail, completion of disabilities forms, death certificates, completing DME forms, and fax items as requested.
  • Requests charts as needed for telephone calls and as provider requests.
  • Accurately and efficiently checks in patients following applicable policies and procedures.
  • Answers billing questions.
  • Answers multiple line telephone and routes calls promptly.
  • Alerts appropriate personnel to urgent messages/issues that require immediate attention.
  • Maintains computer appointment scheduling and follows office scheduling policies/parameters.
  • Responsible for changing scheduling templates when needed.
  • Assists non-ambulatory patients to lab and x-ray as needed.
  • Appropriately obtains referral from insurance, documentation of the referral and communicates the information to the patient, physician, and/or patient’s family as necessary.
