About The Position

Uvalde Memorial Hospital is hiring for a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) or Patient Care Technician (PCT) to support our Med/Surg and ICU teams.
What You’ll Do
You’ll play a key role in supporting nurses and caring for patients by providing hands-on assistance and helping maintain a safe, clean, and responsive patient care environment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Current BLS (Healthcare Provider)
• CNA program completion, or
• CMA certification, or
• One year of an LVN or RN program, or
• 1+ year of related healthcare experience as a nurse aide

Nice To Haves

• Phlebotomy certification preferred.
• EKG certification preferred
• Medical Assistant Certification Preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assisting patients with activities of daily living (bathing, hygiene, mobility, meals)
• Taking and documenting vital signs, weights, and intake/output
• Performing blood glucose checks (Accuchecks)
• Supporting safe transfers and ambulation, using lifts/transfer equipment as needed
• Communicating changes in patient condition to the nursing team
• Following infection control practices and patient safety procedures
• For Patient Care Technicians (preferred): additional duties may include skills such as EKGs/telemetry support and specimen collection/phlebotomy based on training, competency, and unit needs
