Requirements

  • HS diploma/GED required
  • BLS required within 6 months of employment

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred
  • 1 year of pediatric nursing experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • The Patient Care Assistant II (PCA II) assists physicians, RN’s and members of the interdisciplinary team by performing assigned tasks under the supervision of the physician and/or Specialty Care Clinic Manager.
  • The PCA II rooms patients, obtains vital signs for pediatric patients infant to 21 years with orthopedic, burn, reconstructive plastic and rehabilitation conditions dependent on location.
  • The PCA II gathers and documents patient’s clinical information as provided by patient/parent/legal guardian.
  • Performs procedures in accordance with state guidelines and regulations.
  • The Patient Care Assistant II is also the initial contact for all patients and families visiting the Outpatient Department.
  • Depending on location, the Patient Care Assistant II may provide assistance in casting and cast removal, outpatient registration and discharge support, telephone and in-person appointment scheduling, appointment reminders, demographic updates, special diagnostic procedure instructions, and coordinate components of outreach clinics.
