How you'll contribute: A Patient Care Assistant who excels in this role: Performs a wide variety of clerical and clinical duties including, but not limited to:

Requirements

  • Education: High School diploma preferred.
  • License: SRNA or EMT preferred.
  • Certifications: BLS required; Handle with Care preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year insurance authorization and billing, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Answering phones, receiving and giving information, retrieving medical records for scheduled consultants.
  • Processes referrals and schedules patient visits.
  • Register patients in EMR.
  • Create new recurring accounts at the first of each month.
  • Conduct patient or guarantor interviews, explain hospital policies, financial responsibilities and patient rights.
  • Obtains all appropriate signatures for necessary paperwork.
  • Obtains pre-certification and verification of insurance benefits on radiation therapy patients.
  • Follows up on insurance and or medical record information.
  • Monitors patient flow.
  • Assist patients into exam rooms and document patient vitals.
  • Collaborates with other health care professionals to assist as needed when delivering direct patient care in accordance with the standards and expectations of the institution.
  • Performs basic patient care as delegated and supervised by an APRN, including monitoring vital signs, possible blood glucose measurements, and accurate intake/output recording.
  • Observes and promptly reports abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings to nursing staff.
  • Keeps exam rooms clean, safe, and appropriately stocked.
  • Manages the tech desk; supports nursing/physician staff and department throughout.
  • Documents care and activities per unit standards.
  • Participates in performance improvement and required education; performs other duties as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
