About The Position

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) at St. Elizabeth Healthcare is responsible for providing both direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of licensed nursing personnel. This role involves coordinating clerical functions, assisting patients with daily living activities, and ensuring a safe and clean environment for patients. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in customer service is preferred.
  • Ability to perform vital signs and basic patient care procedures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of body mechanics and general computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and maintain clerical functions and duties of the designated unit/program.
  • Utilize customer service skills when greeting patients/visitors and answering telephone calls.
  • Complete worklist tasks triggered by physician orders or nurse-generated tasks under supervision.
  • Provide direct and indirect patient care activities under the direction of a RN or LPN.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living and personal care.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment for assigned patients.
  • Organize and perform clerical duties related to admissions, discharges, transfers, and patient records.
  • Update and maintain patient records as per organizational policies.
  • Assist in maintaining adequate supplies on the nursing unit and obtain items from central supply as needed.
  • Relay written and verbal communication and report pertinent patient/family observations to professional staff.
  • Prepare and assist patients with meals, document intake and output accurately, and support dietary needs.
  • Attend education programs to maintain and learn new clinical skills and procedures.
