About The Position

The Patient Care Assistant at Boven Birth Center is a full-time position that operates on a night shift schedule from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am, including every third weekend. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), the assistant plays a crucial role in the healthcare team by performing clerical and patient care tasks as delegated. The position requires the ability to demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills to provide appropriate patient care and service based on the age of the patients in the assigned area. The role involves maintaining a consistent schedule throughout the year.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required or proof of higher education.
• BLS for the Healthcare Provider by 60 days after hire required.
• Certified Nurses Aide (CNA) preferred.
• Previous patient care experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Computer literate preferred.
• Bilingual (English & Spanish) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the delivery of direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Document patient care activities and patient data accurately using appropriate documentation forms and/or information systems.
• Perform required clinical skills including vital sign measurement, aseptic technique, specimen collection, hot and cold applications, simple respiratory therapy, post mortem care, ostomy care, and application of orthopedic devices.
• Perform patient care tasks related to activities of daily living such as bathing, feeding, hair, skin, and oral care.
• Complete assigned patient duties within the time-frame established by the Registered Nurse.
• Gather data including intake, output, vital signs, patient height and weight, and point-of-care test results.
• Assist with admission, transfer, or discharge of patients.
• Observe patients carefully for changes and report in a timely manner.
• Support the operation of the unit by completing assigned tasks, including ongoing supplies inventory and maintaining a neat environment.
• Perform clerical and reception duties under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, including file, chart, and forms maintenance.

Benefits

• Pay Range: $16.88 - $23.64/hour
• Full Time, 72 hours every 2 weeks
