About The Position

This position greets patients upon their arrival. Duties include check-in, check-out, scheduling appointments, ensuring insurance is verified and referrals are obtained, ensuring appropriate registration information is entered correctly and in a timely manner. Assists with maintaining patient flow in a fast paced clinical office.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience.
  • Basic Life Support - American Heart Association, Basic Life Support - American Red Cross
  • Billing Systems And Third-Party Claims And/Or Medical Office Setting, Related Customer Service (3 Years)
  • Basic Life Support certification. (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements.).
  • BLS certification must be obtained within one month of hire date.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for greeting, registering and checking in New, Return and Walk-in patients.
  • Will also check-out and schedule appointments.
  • Updates and verifies patient insurance, referrals and demographic information in EPIC as needed.
  • Collects copays, self-pay payments and fees for services as needed.
  • Balances cash drawer daily.
  • Serves as back up for other staff during peak times, vacations and illnesses.
  • Travel to other locations may be required.
  • Maintains familiarity with insurance companies and their requirements.
  • Adheres to HIPAA regulations and all Orthopedic/front desk policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
