About The Position

The Patient Benefit Specialist is responsible for working directly with patients to ensure a clear understanding of insurance coverage, financial responsibilities, and available payment options.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of customer service experience.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse patient populations.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills are essential.
  • Local travel between health centers and community events is required; mode of transportation required

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with All Kids and Moms & Babies (MPE) programs preferred
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Marketplace insurance, and HMO regulations preferred
  • Knowledge of Electronic Health Records (EHR), especially EPIC preferred
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus

Responsibilities

  • Conduct benefit orientation and explain financial requirements
  • Perform financial assessment interviews and screen for coverage/eligibility
  • Verify third-party and other healthcare coverage
  • Assist with program enrollment based on assessment results
  • Enter and maintain accurate benefit information in EHR
  • Support patients with Medicaid applications and redetermination
  • Guide patients through the revenue cycle process and support services
