The Patient Benefits Advisor 2 ensures that patients have adequate insurance coverage for services received and advises patients when there are any gaps in coverage so that appropriate payment arrangements can be made. This role involves coordinating with scheduling departments for patient appointments when prior authorizations are not obtained or denied, assisting departments with inquiries regarding account status, pre-certification, eligibility, financial estimates, and policies. The advisor is responsible for securing patient information, disposing of paperwork appropriately, obtaining and documenting prior authorizations, contacting physician offices for missing patient information, and utilizing patient estimate tools and insurance company contacts to provide accurate out-of-pocket estimates and generate estimate letters. Additionally, the role requires updating patient accounts with correct insurance information and submitting insurance referral documentation in a timely fashion, while adhering to University and unit-level policies and procedures.
