About The Position

The Patient Benefit Coordinator conducts eligibility screenings and assesses patients' financial requirements for third-party insurance options. You will report to the Manager. The schedule is Monday - Friday from 8am to 4:30pm.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance and third-party billing.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and the importance of confidentiality.
• Two [2] years of medical office experience.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients to determine eligibility for resources.
• Update patient’s records after each screening.
• Educate patients on available insurance options, provide quotes, and help with the application and referral process.
• Navigate the patient through the ACA/Marketplace application and ensure the necessary documentation is submitted; assist applicants on coverage and changes to coverage.
• Review program eligibility guidelines, coverage options, and Native American policies and benefits.
• Help patients in determining the program and assistance needed such as Patient Relations, Emergency Services, Choctaw Referred Care, or Housing.
• Advocate for patients, screen uninsured patients for alternate resources, and educate patients on the process of obtaining coverage.
• Audit patient charts for accurate insurance coverage and make corrections in the patient’s Electronic Health Record and sequence insurance.
• Perform other responsibilities as may be assigned.
