This position is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of patients, specimens, and medication, throughout the hospital as assigned. The role requires the ability to recognize if the patient is experiencing stress or other issues during transport and immediately seeks assistance. It involves monitoring O2, IV’s, catheters, etc., and alerting appropriate personnel with problems 100% of the time. The individual must inform the supervisor/dispatcher of all delays within 10 minutes and maintain transport equipment in a clean, safe, and orderly manner. Responsibilities also include checking all patients' ID bands and completing two patient identifiers prior to transportation, adhering to all hospital policies and procedures, and understanding and demonstrating safe lifting and transport techniques. The position requires effective communication skills to interact with courtesy, tact, empathy, and professionalism in daily interactions with patients, their families, clinical licensed and non-licensed staff, physicians, and management.
