The Joseph "Eddie" Ballard Western Kentucky Veterans Center is a 156-bed long-term care facility located in beautiful Hanson, Kentucky, dedicated to serving Kentucky's Veterans. The center is committed to fostering independence, preserving dignity, and providing compassionate care to its residents. We are currently seeking a self-motivated and energetic Patient Aide I to join our team. This position is interim, meaning it is established to address a one-time or recurring need of less than nine months duration and is exempt from the classified service under KRS 18A.115. The ideal candidate will work within a team-centered environment, assisting residents with their daily needs and ensuring they receive the highest quality of care. As a Patient Aide I, you will play a crucial role in assisting residents with personal hygiene, nutrition, elimination, safety, and psychosocial needs. You will also support residents during restorative dining, regular meals, and supplement feedings. Additionally, you will assist with exercise and mobility needs by transferring, transporting, positioning, and ambulating residents. This role requires a compassionate individual who is dedicated to serving our Veterans and is willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed. The position offers shift premiums for those who work during these times, ensuring that our staff is recognized for their commitment to care. Working conditions will be normal for a healthcare facility, which may include exposure to individuals with abnormal behaviors and/or contagious diseases. Employees will frequently encounter blood and body fluids, necessitating adherence to safety procedures. A fingerprint-supported national background check will be conducted prior to an offer of employment, and the agency is prohibited from hiring individuals with certain convictions as outlined in 906 KAR 1:190.
