About The Position

Harbor Oaks Hospital is seeking a Patient Advocate to support patient rights and safety within the facility. This role involves educating patients and families, guiding the complaint and grievance processes, and collaborating with staff to resolve issues effectively. The Patient Advocate will play a crucial role in maintaining patient safety and ensuring that concerns are addressed in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in a clinical field preferred.
  • Experience in customer service or risk management preferred.
  • Experience with behavioral health patients preferred.
  • CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire).

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the patient/family grievance process, including processing complaints and communicating resolutions.
  • Collaborate with staff to develop acceptable resolutions to potential complaints.
  • Identify process deficiencies that may threaten patient rights or safety.
  • Maintain up-to-date complaint and grievance logs.
  • Work with the risk department and managers to ensure timely resolution of patient concerns.
  • Participate in new hire orientation to educate staff on patient safety and advocacy.
  • Identify critical customer service needs and discuss them with supervisors and medical staff.
  • Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
