About The Position

The Patient Advocate (Regional) position is a full-time role focused on scheduling patient appointments and providing support to patients in navigating healthcare services. The advocate will ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, assist patients with paperwork, and maintain effective communication with healthcare teams to facilitate patient care. This role is essential in promoting a collaborative environment and ensuring that patients receive the necessary resources and support for their healthcare needs.

Requirements

  • 1 year of progressive work experience in a medical setting (preferred).
  • Proficient in Windows-based computer programs.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule patient appointments based on patient's needs and scheduling policies.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance in all patient interactions.
  • Answer telephone calls, provide information to callers, and route calls to appropriate personnel.
  • Work closely with providers and staff to address patient needs while adhering to scheduling protocols.
  • Promote effective working relations and work as part of a team to meet clinic goals.
  • Maintain daily cash balancing and reporting.
  • Obtain medical information from patients and enter it into electronic records.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and obtain payor source information.
  • Complete follow-up calls to patients to address barriers to care and answer questions.
  • Assist patients with connecting to other resources, such as Medicaid applications and payment agreements.
  • Fill out excuse forms per provider request for patients after their appointments.
  • Demonstrate respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees.
