About the position

The Patient Accounts Manager is responsible for both Inpatient and Outpatient Billing areas, advising the Director and Supervisors on the day-to-day implementation and interpretation of changes to ensure compliance with all policies and procedures. This role involves implementing and ensuring timely and accurate compliance with appropriate billing procedures, ensuring that all accounts receivable records are billed and followed up according to the corporation's policies and procedures. The manager must stay abreast of all latest developments and trends in the newly implemented Epic Financial System. Additionally, the manager actively participates in all Inpatient and Outpatient meetings, WebEx training, and various corporate projects given by RCS/Central Office. They engage in personally training the Patient Accounts Supervisors and Billing, follow-up, and Specialty billing staff. Responsibilities also include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing their work. The manager oversees billing and collections operations to ensure consistent application, interpretation, and implementation of policies and procedures for Inpatient and Outpatient services. They ensure timely submission of Medicare claims to receive PIP payments and avoid penalties and takebacks. The manager also oversees the billing for SPARCS (Statewide Planning and Research Cooperative system for all Inpatient Hospital stays and Outpatient Services) and reviews, monitors, analyzes, and reports revenue data monthly, quarterly, and annually, identifying unusual trends and issues that can impact revenue loss, offering suggestions for resolution, and conducting special projects to capture lost revenue.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
  • Four years of experience in accounting, finance, or business administration, with two years in a managerial capacity in a healthcare setting.
  • Two years of experience managing patient accounts or credits.
  • Equivalent combination of experience, education, and training may be considered.
