The Patient Account Representative is responsible for managing patient accounts, which includes calling and status outstanding claims with third-party payors, reviewing and correcting claims issues, and utilizing claims clearinghouses for electronic resubmission. This role involves reviewing explanation of benefits to ensure correct claim processing and payment, completing adjustment forms with supporting documentation, and managing daily productivity to maintain an average of 30-40 accounts worked per day. The representative will also prorate patient accounts, monitor financial class balances, report weekly overviews to the Business Office Director (BOD), participate in AR meetings, interpret system data to initiate strategic steps for payment, assist financial counselors, and alert them and the BOD of any benefit eligibility matters affecting reimbursement.
