About The Position

As part of our team, you'll create the financial strategies that drive improvement and help influence the future of health care. The Patient Account Representative Lead will be responsible for training and directing assigned subordinates, processing medical claims, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of medical billing, insurance claims processing, and effective communication with patients and insurance carriers.

Requirements

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in medical insurance claims processing or related experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform diversified clerical functions and basic accounting procedures.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT-4 and ICD-9-CM coding.
  • 10-key by touch proficiency.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database PC applications.

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in collections in a healthcare industry.
  • Associates degree in accounting or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, coordinates, delegates, and schedules work; orients and trains assigned subordinates.
  • Receives, reviews, and controls requests for medical information and verifies completeness and accuracy.
  • Verifies patient/member eligibility, benefits, and coverage with various insurance carriers.
  • Audits, abstracts, and summarizes pertinent data from patient medical records.
  • Contacts debtors to arrange for collection of monies owing.
  • Receives and responds to telephone calls and correspondence regarding charges and services.
  • Analyzes history of delinquent accounts and prepares write-off accounts.
  • Prepares and audits visit records and nurse/doctor notes.
  • Researches rejected or unpaid claims and resubmits claims for payment.
  • Maintains current knowledge of state, federal, and community agencies.
  • Documents and records all collection actions taken on individual accounts.
  • Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to provide culturally sensitive care.
