About The Position

The Patient Account Registrar is responsible for interviewing patients or their representatives to obtain patient demographics and securing insurance information, including eligibility, benefits, and authorizations. This role involves working closely with all facets of the Admitting department, including PBX operator functions and reception areas. The registrar must be able to operate a computer for data input and retrieval and communicate effectively with diverse patient populations across all age groups, from neonatal to geriatric, utilizing age-specific techniques. Maintaining proficiency in medical terminology is also required. Additionally, the position may involve special projects or other assignments to be completed within specified timeframes.

Requirements

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize needs to meet required timelines
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Customer Services experience required
  • High School Graduate or GED Equivalent Required

Nice To Haves

  • Previous hospital experience as an admissions representative preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with all facets of the Admitting department including PBX operator function and reception areas.

  • Ability to communicate with the population served, utilizing age specific techniques from neonatal, pediatrics, adolescents, young adults, middle adult to geriatrics.
  • Maintain proficiency in medical terminology.
  • Special projects or other assignments may be given with expectations to be completed in a specified timeframe
