About The Position

At Coshocton Regional Medical Center, a 56-bed, not-for-profit hospital serving East Central Ohio, the Patient Account Registrar is a full-time role with variable shifts including nights and weekends. This position involves interviewing patients or their representatives to gather patient demographics and securing insurance information, eligibility, benefits, and authorizations. The registrar works closely with all aspects of the Admitting department, including PBX operator functions and reception areas. The role requires operating a computer for data input and retrieval, communicating effectively with diverse patient populations using age-specific techniques, and maintaining proficiency in medical terminology. Special projects or other assignments may be given with expectations to be completed in a specified timeframe.

Requirements

• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize needs to meet required timelines.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Customer Services experience required.
• High School Graduate or GED Equivalent Required (effective 4/1/14 for all new hires).

Nice To Haves

• Previous hospital experience as an admissions representative preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interviews the patient or his/her representative to obtain patient demographics.
• Secures insurance information, eligibility, benefits and authorizations as applicable.
• Works closely with all facets of the Admitting department including PBX operator function and reception areas.
• Operate a computer to input and retrieve data.
• Communicate with the population served, utilizing age specific techniques from neonatal, pediatrics, adolescents, young adults, middle adult to geriatrics.
• Maintain proficiency in medical terminology.
• Complete special projects or other assignments in a specified timeframe.
