Patient Account Registrar
About The Position
We are seeking a Patient Account Registrar, also referred to as a Hospital Admission Representative. This role involves collecting and verifying patient demographic and insurance information, ensuring eligibility, benefits, and authorizations are accurately obtained. The Patient Account Registrar will collaborate closely with the Admitting team and communicate effectively with patients across all age groups. This is a full-time position with day shifts available, specifically 8-hour shifts from 7:00am to 3:00pm, located at St. John's Hospital in Leavenworth, KS.
Requirements
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize needs to meet required timelines
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Customer Services experience required
- High School Graduate or GED Equivalent Required
Nice To Haves
- Previous hospital experience as an admissions representative preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
Responsibilities
- Interview patients or authorized representatives to gather accurate demographic and insurance information
- Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and required authorizations
- Enter and retrieve patient data using computerized systems
- Communicate clearly with patients using age-appropriate techniques across all life stages
- Support Admitting department operations, including reception, PBX functions, and special assignments
