About The Position

- The Patient Account Clerk I at LIFESTREAM BEHAVIORAL CENTER is responsible for managing patient accounts, ensuring accurate billing, and maintaining financial records. The role involves interacting with patients and staff to resolve billing inquiries and discrepancies, contributing to the overall financial health of the organization.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a clerical or administrative role, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience with patient billing and account management is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in using office software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on customer service.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with healthcare billing systems and electronic health records (EHR) is an advantage.
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to address and resolve billing inquiries and discrepancies.

Responsibilities

  • Process and manage patient billing and account transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Review and verify patient insurance information to ensure proper billing.
  • Respond to patient inquiries regarding account status and billing issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Maintain detailed and organized financial records, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve billing discrepancies and improve processes.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports and statements as required.
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of patient financial information.
  • Provide support to the finance team with additional tasks and projects as needed.
