About The Position

The Patient Access Technician (PAT) is an exciting opportunity at MultiCare, responsible for ensuring accurate patient admission and registration. This intermediate-level clerical position will allow you to apply your professional service-orientation, good judgment and independent thinking in your daily work functions.

Requirements

Graduate of a health vocational program such as Patient Access, Medical Assistance Medical Billing & Insurance or an Associate Degree with six months of experience
One year of experience performing admitting, Health Unit Coordinator, patient registration or billing duties in a health care setting required
Customer service experience required

Responsibilities

assure complete and accurate patient admissions/registrations according to organization policy and procedures and regulatory requirements
obtain inpatient bed assignments and processes inpatient admission, including arm banding, addressograph plate, and completion of necessary forms
pre-admit all scheduled inpatient, outpatients and ambulatory patients to facilitate a smooth and speedy admission/registration process
obtain direct admit information and enter a reservation in the computer system in order to notify other areas
complete comprehensive bedside or telephone interviews with the patient, relative, or their representative to obtain pertinent demographic insurance and/or third-party liability information
perform eligibility verification and resolves any discrepancies, determine the need for financial assistance recommendation and application, referring to the Financial Counselor where necessary
