Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 7:00 am – 3:30 pm. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime. This will be on the job training and the hours during training will be 7:00 am – 3:30 pm, Monday – Friday.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Must be 18 years of age OR older
  • 2+ years of experience working in a hospital patient registration department or physician office
  • 1 + years of supervisor /management or team/group lead experience in healthcare
  • Experience verifying patient insurance
  • Working knowledge of medical benefits & medical terminology
  • Ability to work full time onsite at two Emergency Department’s and one OB Admitting Department location: 17040 North 51st Avenue, Glendale, AZ, 4975 North Dysart Road, Litchfield Park, AZ, 350 W Thomas Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85013. Schedule will consist of 1 day per week in Litchfield Park, 1 day per week in Glendale, and 3 days per week in Phoenix.
  • Ability to work any shift between 7:00 AM and 3:30 PM, Monday–Friday, with availability for after hours calls to support the team, as the facility operates 24/7

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for patient registration staff.
  • Have a working knowledge of computer applications.
  • Demonstrate leadership and analytical thinking capability.
  • Requires working knowledge of insurance including commercial contracts, managed care, and government programs including federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Have knowledge of basic medical terminology.
  • Organizes workflow to ensure accurate and timely team performance.
  • Supervises the work schedule, always ensuring adequate and appropriate coverage for all positions.
  • Selects and delegates training and orientation of new staff.
  • Assigns staff responsibilities and evaluates performance.
  • Counsels employees on areas of improvement of job duties and performance.
  • Works with staff to develop personal development plans, identify areas for improvement, and improve performance.
  • Performs interviews, performance appraisals, provides coaching and feedback to staff adhering to the policies and procedures of the admitting department as well as Dignity Health policies.
  • Provides input for, and ensures staff compliance with, established organizational policies, objectives, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  • Possesses knowledge and ability to leverage technology, optimize the utilization of internal resources and improve the quality of work and information flows.
  • Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings as assigned.
  • Attends, and sometimes leads departmental meetings and contributes with suggestions, ideas, and methods to improve quality of department / hospital operations.
  • Daily rounding and weekly huddles with the registration staff.
  • Reviews operational reports, identifies opportunities and problems and makes recommendations for improving customer service, patient throughput and process flow.
  • Generates enthusiasm and commitment among employees.
