About The Position

Supervisor is responsible for 24/7 coverage of their assigned department. Plans, coordinates, monitors and manages workflows ensuring effective and efficient daily operations of the department. Uses knowledge of mission and core strategy as a basis to develop specific objectives and goals. Supervisor must have a strong Patient Access knowledge base with a thorough understanding of the registration workflows and processes, Medicare compliance and regulations, HIPAA, and document requirements. Must have strong change management skills to support innovation, encourage creativity, and help staff to accept and resolve challenges. Ability to remain flexible to meet constantly changing and sometimes opposing demands and competing priorities. Enforce operational, procedural, and regulatory requirements. This person will serve as a leader and role model for the department by displaying a positive, patient centered, and solution oriented approach and attitude. Sets the example for the department as the expert in accurate, thorough and effective work processes. Provides leadership, direction, and mentorship/support to the staffing needs for the designated specialty area(s). Assist team members in the interpretation and application of facility policy. Coordinates the provision of appropriate staffing levels and resources. This position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide support necessary to their direct reports. The Supervisor will collaborate with their peers and system resources throughout Riverside Health System when needed to achieve maximum success. Works collaboratively with the RMHRC leadership team to achieve maximum success in accordance with standards of excellence established by Riverside Health System and facility goals and strategic plans.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED, (Required)
  • 2 years Patient Access/Revenue Cycle (Required)
  • Certified Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM) - National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM) within 1 Year (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors Degree, will count as one year of experience (Preferred)
  • CRCR - Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) (Preferred)
  • NAHA CAP – Change Acceleration Process within 1 Year (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Assists with patient flow in Emergency Department and In patient areas using EPIC and workflows processes.
  • Monitors ER track board and Transfer Board to ensure all patients are registered timely.
  • Oversee the education of Patient Access team members, including new employee orientation/training, competency assessments, and ongoing education programs across all areas of responsibility.
  • Identify focus areas for competency assessments.
  • Provide training opportunities addressing areas highlighted by these assessments.
  • Review the quality of patient registration documents on a daily basis; following up with employees as applicable.
  • Must work assigned work queues daily to include patient, account (DNB and Denial), and claim edits to ensure accuracy of registration data.

  • Critical thinking skills to analyze data interpret information, make accurate, logical decisions, in order to develop and implement work products
  • Maintains court paperwork for TDO and HPR5 communication.
