About The Position

The position oversees the daily registration functions within Patient Access’s scope of work, ensuring the operational unit is staffed appropriately and promoting a positive patient experience for patients and families. The role requires strong verbal and written communication and customer service skills when interacting with staff, patients, families, and leadership. The supervisor is responsible for efficient and compliant registration processes, ensuring regulatory and compliance requirements are met, and prioritizing responsibilities to complete daily work requirements. The position also involves resolving departmental and patient problems as needed and monitoring key performance metrics to ensure goals are achieved.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in healthcare or business administration required, or a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years of patient registration experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a healthcare setting required.
  • Knowledge of patient registration and third-party insurance coverage.
  • Proficient with computer and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Familiarity with healthcare EHR applications (e.g., EPIC, Cerner).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong quality assurance and critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily registration functions within Patient Access.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing of the operational unit.
  • Promote a positive patient experience for patients and families.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication and customer service skills.
  • Supervise efficient and compliant registration processes.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Prioritize responsibilities to complete daily work requirements.
  • Resolve departmental and patient problems as needed.
  • Monitor key performance metrics to ensure goals are achieved.
  • Maintain staffing schedules and respond to time-off requests.
  • Manage resources to cover vacancies with minimum or no overtime.
  • Ensure necessary coverage for smooth department operations.
  • Manage on-site operations including payroll and attendance.
  • Respond to patient complaints or stakeholder concerns.
  • Identify ways to improve registration processes.
  • Participate in interviewing and hiring new employees.
  • Share in the education and training of new hires.
  • Monitor new employee onboarding to ensure competence.
  • Provide constructive communication to service delivery areas.
  • Escalate issues to Patient Access Leadership timely.
  • Appraise staff performance and address complaints.
  • Act as a mentor for staff.
  • Track staff’s time and attendance for compliance.
  • Demonstrate a professional demeanor with all stakeholders.
  • Achieve individual and team performance metrics.
  • Complete staff quality assurance reviews.
  • Complete annual performance evaluations for staff.
