About The Position

The Patient Access Supervisor is responsible for providing guidance and mentoring to new and existing staff in their daily work efforts and proper handling of accounts. This role includes daily support, mentoring, and training for Patient Access staff, managing escalated issues, and assisting in the preparation for both short and long-range planning recommendations for all Registration Process areas. The supervisor maintains positive customer service, enforces departmental policies, and monitors daily activity and performance reports. Additionally, the supervisor performs all Patient Access functions as needed and acts as part of the management team to ensure operational goals are met.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • College degree preferred, specifically in Business, Accounting, Medical Administration, or related area.
  • 4 plus years of experience in a medical facility, health insurance, or related area.
  • 5 plus years of experience in Patient Access preferred.
  • 2 plus years in a supervisory or lead role preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Thorough knowledge of computer systems in Health Care Information System.
  • Clear understanding of Revenue Cycle Management and Regulatory Agencies.
  • Ability to communicate detailed information effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Provides daily support, mentoring, and training to new hires and existing Patient Access staff.

  • Maintains positive customer service and assists staff in resolving issues.
  • Enforces departmental policies and assists in the development of new policies.
  • Monitors daily activity and completion of performance and metric reports.
  • Performs all Patient Access functions as needed.
  • Acts as part of the management team to meet operational goals.
