Patient Access Specialist
About The Position
The Patient Access Specialist provides essential support by collaborating with radiologists, technologists, referring providers/clinic, registration staff, front desk attendants, and scheduling teams to ensure smooth coordination of breast imaging services. This role involves delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced outpatient ambulatory setting while ensuring that all patient records and documents are properly maintained and comply with DHEC, MQSA, and ACR guidelines. The coordinator will also offer support to other outreach sites as needed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Associate/Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Prior work experience in a Breast Imaging Department is preferred.
- Demonstrate ability to organize and prioritize work, provide excellent verbal and written communication, interact tactfully with customers, and establish and maintain effective relationships with others.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of Breast Imaging workflow/protocols.
- Collaborate with technologists, radiologists, referring providers/clinic, front desk, and schedulers to facilitate breast imaging services and provide timely patient care.
- Support a culture of safety in the workplace.
- Identify improvement opportunities for the department/organization.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Schedule breast imaging exams
- Enter orders in EPIC
- Request prior breast imaging exams for interpretation
- Upload images into Lifeimage and Sectra
- Review pending exams that have not been read
- Upload images into Lifeimage/Powershare and Sectra
- Assisting Breast Navigator in coordinating patient recommendations within MQSA guidelines
