Overview Central Maine Healthcare is an integrated healthcare delivery system serving 400,000 people living in central, western and Midcoastal Maine. Responsibilities Central Maine Healthcare is seeking a Part Time, 20-hour, Patient Access Specialist to join our team! This postion pays $20.00 per hour. Position Summary: The Patient Access Specialist, reporting directly to the Patient Access Manager, is responsible for overseeing patient admitting and registration processes in compliance with hospital and departmental policies. This role includes managing and maintaining the accuracy of the Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI), particularly during system downtimes or non-coverage hours in the Health Information Management (HIM) department. Key tasks involve identifying and resolving duplicate medical record numbers, merging and unmerging patient records as needed, and coordinating with various areas of the healthcare system to ensure seamless operations. Education and Experience: High school graduate or equivalent. One to three years relevant experience preferred, including knowledge of admitting and registration policies and procedures. Able to effectively communicate in English and preferably in French, both verbally and in writing. Able to communicate effectively with professional staff, families and patients. Detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy. Demonstrates a keen understanding of the significant patient safety implications of maintaining a unique patient identifier in the electronic medical record environment. Requirements
