Requirements

  • Ability to provide strong customer service to a complex patient population.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic bookkeeping skills including cash handling, posting charges, and deposits.
  • Ability to navigate multiple computer software programs including EHR, Microsoft Office products, scanners, calculators, and multi-line telephones.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a receptionist in a medical, dental, or social services setting.
  • Strong bookkeeping or accounting skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Bilingual abilities (English/Spanish).

Responsibilities

  • Greeting, directing, and assisting patients and visitors in a professional, courteous, and efficient manner throughout their visit.
  • Scheduling and registering patients, including the accurate collection of required data.
  • Determining eligibility for services and counseling patients regarding payment policies.
  • Monitoring and collection of monies due.
  • Managing the overall atmosphere of the waiting room, keeping patients informed about wait times, and ensuring a comfortable and clean waiting area.
  • Managing the phone system, including answering multi-line phones, triaging patient needs and requests, and managing staff messages.
  • Scheduling and ensuring that appointments are confirmed.
  • Ensuring patient demographics are accurate and up to date when scheduling an appointment and upon patient check-in.
  • Completing data entry into the PM system, including scanning and entering all necessary registration records for each patient.
  • Completing chart preparation as needed.
  • Managing necessary financial and insurance records on all patients, ensuring information is updated in the PM system.
