About The Position

The Patient Access Specialist Lead at Novant Health is responsible for enhancing quality, productivity, and efficiency within the department. The lead will also assist staff as needed and is expected to cross-train in various administrative functions, contributing to a remarkable patient experience.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's Degree preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in patient access, registration, billing, or related experience in a medical environment.
• Experience with patient placement and financial counseling preferred.
• Ability to complete competency assessments successfully.
• Knowledge of insurance, billing, and regulatory standards; proficiency in Microsoft Office and registration software.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of Novant Health revenue cycle university program preferred.
• Certification from a related leadership level professional organization such as NAHAM CHAM preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the patient access processes and ensure timely and accurate recording of patient demographics and insurance information.
• Assist department leadership in day-to-day operations and staff assignments.
• Support staff as needed and provide coaching and feedback.
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities within the department.
• Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures.
• Schedule and organize assigned shifts effectively.
